About
The call is announced for applications for admission to the PhD course in Linguistics, Philological-Literary and Political-Social Sciences, XXXIX cycle – 2023/2024 A.Y., with administrative headquarters at the University for Foreigners of Perugia.
The course has a duration of three years and includes 9 places, 6 places of which with a University-funded scholarship and 3 places with an NRRP restricted topic scholarship co-financed using resources provided for by Ministerial Decree 118/2023 (NRRP PhD scholarships – Inv. 4.1).
The Course is divided into three curricula:
- Linguistics and language teaching;
- Italian philology, literature and arts;
- International diplomacy and cooperation.
What is funded
The following places are available for each of the three curricula:
Curriculum 1 – Linguistics and Language Teaching

SCHOLARSHIPS
The amount of the scholarship is €16,243.00 per year gross of social security contributions to be paid by the scholarship holder, increased by 50 per cent for a total period not exceeding 12 months if the PhD student is authorized by the Teachers Board to carry out research activities abroad.
This period can be extended up to a maximum of 18 months for doctorates in co-supervision with foreign subjects.
Duration
The course has a duration of three years and it will begin approximately in November 2023.
Eligibility
Applications for admission to the PhD course referred to in the previous article can be submitted by those who possess the following titles by the expiration date of this announcement:
- university degree under the old system (prior to Ministerial Decree 509/99);
- specialist degree (Ministerial Decree 509/99) or master’s degree (Ministerial Decree 270/04);
- academic qualification equivalent to the degrees referred to in the previous letters, or second-level academic qualifications issued by institutions belonging to the AFAM sector (Higher Art and Music Education);
- analogous academic qualification obtained abroad at an officially recognized academic institution (Master’s degree or equivalent), judged suitable by the selection board for the sole purpose of entering the PhD program. This qualification must be comparable to the Italian “Laurea Magistrale” in terms of level and must be valid for enrollment in an academic course similar to a PhD in the country of origin.

Applications for admission to the competition must be submitted no later than 12:00 noon, September 19, 2023.
