The Department of Cell Physiology and Molecular Biophysics (CPMB) at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) has an open position for a tenure-track regular faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor.

We enthusiastically seek outstanding candidates who can synergistically build upon and add to CPMB’s existing foci upon the function and structure of integral membrane proteins (ligand- and voltage-gated ion channels, pumps, transporters), structural biology, biopolymers, and membrane biology (https://www.ttuhsc.edu/medicine/cell-physiology-molecular-biophysics/). Creative individuals pursuing forward-looking research programs in computational, synthetic, and systems biology, as well as biophysical and biochemical approaches to both fundamental and translational problems, are eagerly sought. Those utilizing genomic or proteomic approaches are also encouraged to apply.

The new faculty member will join a collegial and cohesive department of established investigators. Dr. Michael Wiener, recruited as Chairperson in January 2023, is committed to building upon the existing strengths of CPMB and providing a highly supportive environment for intellectual and scientific growth. A successful individual will develop and maintain a competitive extramurally funded research program, participate in graduate and/or medical teaching and provide service to the TTUHSC community.

Additionally, the Center for Membrane Protein Research (CMPR) functions as an inter-departmental and inter-institutional entity (with Texas Tech University) for more than twenty faculty united by common research interests. Shared resources within the department include capabilities for cell culture, protein production and biochemical/biophysical characterization.

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, national origin, age, disability, genetic information or status as a protected veteran.
