The Centre NanoSYD at The Mads Clausen Institute invites applications for a 3-year Assistant Professor position in the field of stretchable organic electronics and advanced X-ray characterization. The position is in Sønderborg, and the starting date is 1st of December 2023 or as soon as possible thereafter.

About the position
The research focus of the Assistant Professor position is to develop advanced in-operando microstructural and electrical characterization methods, and on the basis of this to develop improved stretchable organic electronics. In particular, this includes synchrotron X-ray investigations of organic thin films combined with complementary microstructural as well as electrical device characterization. Moreover, the position includes teaching and supervision activities at bachelor and master level, primarily within the engineering programmes at SDU in Sønderborg.

About the candidate
We are looking for a highly motivated and ambitious candidate with a PhD degree in a field related to the topic, such as engineering, physics or chemistry, and with relevant postdoc experience. The preferred candidate has expertise in synchrotron X-ray scattering experiments preferably combined with experience in thin-film deposition, scanning probe microscopy, and electrical device characterization. Previous teaching experience is preferred but not a requirement, as the position will include participation in a lecturer training programme. Moreover, the preferred candidate has strong communication skills in English (written and spoken), can work well in a team as well as independently, and can quickly acquire new knowledge.

Research environment
The successful candidate will be affiliated with the nanoscience centre NanoSYD at the Mads Clausen Institute, University of Southern Denmark, which is located at the Faculty of Engineering on the international campus in Sønderborg, Denmark. We offer a modern, inclusive, international and interdisciplinary working environment with state-of-the-art facilities as well as a strong tradition of international collaboration.
