Pre-selection, table of the Master’s degree courses taught in English: specific information on the documents required for evaluation and selection method adopted by each course

Access to MASTER’S DEGREES TAUGHT IN ENGLISH:
WHEN TO APPLY on the UniGeApply portal for A.Y. 2025/26:
OPENING: 18th November 2024.
CLOSING: 14th March 2025.
- Number of applications per candidate: the assessment may be requested for a maximum of 2 courses.
- Evaluation outcome: due to the high number of applications, it may be necessary to wait three to eight weeks. Please do not contact the Admission Office. Information will be sent by email to the address provided during registration. You can always monitor the progress by accessing the UniGeApply portal.
Which fundamental documents should be prepared – always check the detailed information for the course of interest in the table above Info Admission:
- (mandatory) Passport (other types of ID documents are not accepted for selection)
- (mandatory) Photo
- (mandatory) Curriculum vitae et studiorum: provide information about your studies, additional courses, work activities or internships that may be relevant for the selection phase.
- (mandatory) Bachelor’s degree: final or provisional certificate. If you have not finished your studies, ask your University for a letter with the estimated date of graduation and the Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) obtained up to the most recent semester. If you are completing your studies, the final degree must be obtained by August 15.
- (mandatory) Transcript of records: list of examinations taken with number of credits and marks. If you have not finished your studies, please report the complete transcript until the most recent semester.
- (compulsory for some courses only, optional for others) Syllabus: description of the program of the exams taken (document required only by some courses).
- (mandatory only for some courses, but always recommended for all) Certificate of knowledge of the English language at level B2: see the certificates accepted by UniGe on the web page https://clat.unige.it/CertificationiRiconosciute
If you have a bachelor’s degree in English, as a replacement of the certificate of knowledge of the English language, upload the certificate that attests to the medium of instruction (always check what the course of interest requires by consulting the Info Admission table above). - Attention: some courses require additional documents such as the portfolio and the motivation letter, always check what is required by the course of interest.
- (optional) Additional qualifications: if you have other qualifications (example: a second bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree (also in the graduation phase) in addition to the bachelor’s degree used as entry qualification for selection of the master’s degree of interest, provide documents related to the second degree.
- Maximum size of uploaded documents: maximum 2 MB per document, with the exception of the portfolio (for the course that requires it) where the maximum size is 5 MB.
- Translation of documents: if the documents provided are not in Italian, English, French, Spanish or Portuguese, please also provide a translation.
Instructions for submitting the pre-assessment application on the UniGeApply portal
1. REGISTRATION
1. Register to create UniGePass credentials (username and password). The username you will receive (example: S1234567) will be your student number (matricola). In case of inquiries or information, always report your student number. Warning: if you have already registered and have already obtained UniGePass credentials to access the Online Services of Unige DO NOT start a new registration procedure, use the username and password already in your possession.
Be careful to fill in the fields with the data exactly as shown on your passport. In the case of a compound last name (surname) and/or first name (given name), enter all last names and first names on your passport (do not use dashes and dots). Be careful not to reverse the last name field and the first name field. If one of the two fields is empty on the passport, fill in using an X. Compiling with error can cause a slowdown of the services offered.
2. ACCESS TO THE UNIGEAPPLY PORTAL
After creating your credentials, submit your application on the UniGeApply portal. Log in to the portal from this link , check the information on the start page and scroll down to the “submit a new application for A.Y. 2025/26” button and click to start. The pre-assessment phase is mandatory for students applying for a Master’s Degree in English.
3. HOW TO COMPLETE THE APPLICATION
- Fill in all the mandatory sections and fields (marked with *) of the application and upload the required documents:
- Choose the course/courses you want to apply for. N.B. You can apply for a maximum of TWO courses. To see only courses taught in English, select the language filter when submitting your application in the “courses” section.
- Verify or enter your personal information and your degree. At least one university degree (Bachelor’s degree) is required.
- Upload your passport and photo.
- Depending on the course/course chosen loads the fundamental documents and those required by the course. Note: to make the list of required documents (mandatory and optional) appear you must select the course of interest, the list will appear in the “documents” section only after your choice.
- Information on the bachelor’s degree used as a qualification for access to the selection of the master’s degree of interest. In the “further information” section, enter the Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) and the University of origin related to your Bachelor’s degree. Please note that the list of universities of each country is not exhaustive. Start typing the first letters of your university name, if the university does not appear in the list, mark “other university not listed”, this will not affect the selection. You will also see a drop-down menu where you can select the type of Bachelor’s degree you have (select one of the options, if there is no match between the title you have select “other” at the bottom of the list).
- When you have finished your application, entering the required data and attaching the necessary documents, remember to save, by pressing on the “save” button. Warning: it is not possible to save the application in draft.
- Warning: if the application was completed and saved correctly, the green word “Complete, pending evaluation” will appear at the end. In this case the application has been sent correctly and is awaiting evaluation. You will also receive a confirmation email.
Always check to upload complete and readable documents. If one or more mandatory documents are not uploaded, it will not be possible to submit the application.
4. RECEIPT OF NOTIFICATIONS RELATING TO YOUR APPLICATION
- If the Admissions Office or the commission of the course of studies should apply for integration, you will be notified by email and can access your application to update the documents. Remember, once you receive your integration request, you’ll have three weeks to complete the task.
- When your application reaches the end of the evaluation process, you will receive a notification email with the outcome of the evaluation. By logging on to the portal, you will see your application in one of the following states:
- Accepted. In this case you will see the green text “Complete (Accepted by commission)”. You can also download a receipt indicating that you have passed the pre-selection and are eligible to enroll in the course. This receipt replaces the letter of acceptance no longer requested by the Embassy/Consulate;
- Conditionally accepted (yellow sentence). You lack some curricular requirements that must be met before enrollment (e.g. you must take additional exams or an entrance test if the course has restricted access). Also in this case, you will be able to download a receipt stating your acceptance;
- Rejected (red sentence). You do not have the course entry requirements. Given the high number of applications, no specific reasons for rejection will be provided. Please do not contact the Office, as you will not receive any reply.
NEXT STEP AFTER PRE-SELECTION (if successful): UNIVERSITALY
If your application has been accepted, or conditionally accepted, you can proceed to the pre-registration phase on the Universitaly website. Universitaly is used to submit the visa application procedure. The University will validate the application and send it to the Embassy/Consulate. The Universitaly portal is external to UniGe and you will have to upload all your documents again. If you are accepted for two courses, you will have to make a choice. At Universitaly you can apply for only one course of study. WHEN TO APPLY on the UNIVERSITALY portal for the visa application procedure:
OPENING: date to be defined, wait for updates (not dependent on UniGe, generally the opening takes place in March of each year)
CLOSING: date to be defined, wait for updates (decided by UniGe not yet determined)
Attention:
- respect the opening and closing dates, applications submitted before opening and after closing will be rejected.
- upload all your documents again (provide the most up-to-date version).
After your application has been approved on Universitaly.it, you can move on to the pre-enrollment phase on Online services of UniGe. The opening of pre-enrollment usually takes place in April each year. The chosen course of studies must be the same as the one in the application submitted on Universitaly.it
