Overview
The Toshiba Nathan Godby Engineering Scholarship was created to increase and broaden the pool of engineering and technology talent and provide UTS students an opportunity to gain industry experience at Toshiba International Corporation Pty Ltd. The scholarship was created to honour Nathan Godby, an UTS graduate, and late Toshiba employee, who had a passion for mechanical engineering.

Who is eligible?
To be eligible for the Scholarship, an applicants must:

  • Be Australian or New Zealand citizens, or the holder of an Australian permanent resident visa or permanent humanitarian visa; and
  • Be enrolled in the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours), Diploma in Professional Engineering Practice course, or combined Engineering courses with Diploma in Professional Engineering Practice; and
  • Be majoring in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering; and
  • Have achieved a minimum Credit Average (WAM 65 or above); and
  • Be enrolled or have successfully completed Professional Practice Preparation 2; and
  • Have not completed Professional Experience 2; and
  • All candidates must apply using the UTS online Scholarship Application form; and
  • Be available to attend an interview in person (this may be face-to-face or online).

Selection process
As demonstrated in the Scholarship application and interview:

  • Academic merit (WAM);
  • Motivation to succeed in their studies and an Engineering career;
  • Initiative to seek opportunities to continually advance their professional and personal lives;
  • Interest in the power generation industry;
  • Relevant technical expertise with an understanding of soft skills and teamworking behaviours.
