Eligibility
  • Applicants should have completed at least three years of full-time studies at university level in physics, related natural science disciplines or computing by the summer of 2025
  • The main target audiences are students who are at the following two stages by summer 2025:
      • They are about to obtain their Bachelor’s degree.
      • They hold a Bachelor’s degree and are enrolled in a Master’s programme.
  • Applicants who already obtained a Master’s degree or will have obtained it by summer 2025 cannot be accepted.
  • Applicants should not have previously been at DESY as a summer student.
  • Please take note that due to regulations for paid internships in Germany, we can only accept students who are enrolled at their university for the whole period of the Summer Student Programme. Unfortunately, we cannot make exceptions to this rule since this is a necessary criteria due to German employment law.
  • No applications from students enrolled at Russian or Belarussian universities are accepted regardless of their citizenship.
  • Good working knowledge of English and some basic computing skills.
  • The students are expected to participate during the full period of the 2025 programme, from July 22 until September 11.
Requirements
In the course of this application, you will have to upload a single document (only PDF format is accepted), containing:
  1. A CV (usually 1-2 pages are sufficient for the complete CV).
  2. University grade certificates (e.g. bachelor certificate, credit points, etc.).
  3. Applicants from NON-EU and NON-EEA countries need a work permit for Germany, This is German law and mandatory for attending the DESY Summer Student Progamme.
  4. Please upload a separate second document (in one .pdf file) containing:
      1. A copy of your international passport.
      2. A certificate of enrollment is provided by your university. It has to cover the whole period of the programme, i.e. 22 July to 11 September 2025.
      3. IN ADDITION, the Central Working Agency in Bonn requires the so-called “Declaration of Certificate of Enrollment” which is also mandatory and has to be signed and stamped by your university, covering the same period of time (22 July to 11 September 2025), Download from: Here
