RURAL VETERINARY SERVICES ( RAVS )

Rural Area Veterinary Services (RAVS) is a non-profit veterinary service learning program that provides essential animal health services to remote Native American communities without access to regular veterinary care. We offer help where other organizations are not. We also teach future veterinary professionals medicine, surgery and service.

Field clinics are a one- to two-week commitment and qualify for 30 hours of CE approved by RACE. Volunteers provide small animal welfare and emergency care, sterilization / sterilization and other essential services while training and mentoring veterinary students from across the country.

If you are compassionate, adventurous, a volunteer mentor and someone who wants to make a difference for those who need it, join us. All experience levels are welcome. Bring a colleague, friend or clinic team!

 Safari4u Global Vet Experience – South Africa

Join us for an unforgettable veterinary experience in Chintsa, South Africa – we treat large, small and exotic African wild animals in our community while teaching students about veterinary medicine!

• Explore the different areas of veterinary medicine
• Acquiring clinical skills that are difficult to practice in the United States
• Add a unique experience to your CV or to your application for enrollment in a veterinary school
• Help animals in disadvantaged communities

 In the clinic, students assist program veterinarians with preoperative, surgery and recovery. The objective of our sterilization / sterilization campaign is to create a smaller and healthier animal population in the villages without means or access to veterinary care.

The large animal component is designed based on the recommendations and prerequisites of AVMA accredited veterinary schools to give our students the most relevant practical experience. Students work with a variety of animals in a production setting and through our non-profit community project.

Students also work closely with the wildlife veterinarian and their capture team to locate, immobilize, transport, and release African wildlife, a process commonly known as “game capture.”

SAMANA PROJECT

Project Samana, a 501c3 charity, is looking for volunteer veterinary technicians for our next trips. We travel to Samana, Dominican Republic for a week and open a sterilization / sterilization clinic for the city. We need some small animal and equine technologies. In small animals, you should be comfortable with intubation, IV catheter placement, anesthesia administration, surgical preparation, post-operative monitoring and recovery. Last year, we implemented local surgical units and home pain relievers for each patient. Equine technicians must be willing to work in the field with patients who are not used to handling them and be able to assist the veterinarian in administering anesthetics, surgical preparation and deworming. We work for 4 days and have a free day to visit the city. It’s a great experience to work with amazing surgeons,

PLEASE JOIN BART AND HELP YOUR COMMUNITIES

Basic Animal Rescue Training (BART) is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization run by volunteers from the veterinary profession. BART’s mission is to provide firefighters and other first responders with the training and equipment they need to safely and efficiently handle pets, horses and livestock they encounter in emergency situations. We started teaching in Massachusetts a few years ago and now need more trainers to help deliver this program to every city in our state.

We will soon be organizing a teacher training class   in this area. We need veterinarians and veterinary technicians to be trained to give the class. Once we know who is interested, we will set a mutually agreeable time and place to organize the training. The training lasts approximately 2 to 3 hours, then we would present the presentation to a local group of first responders, so that the new trainers can observe. Only veterinarians, veterinary technicians and students from these professions can be trainers.

 BASK – Balance and service K9s, Inc

Do you want a puppy? Balance and Service K9s is looking for volunteer puppy breeders to help train service dogs for veterans and first responders. Families, singles, homework and homeschoolers are excellent breeders!

Our commitment as a puppy breeder is approximately 16 months, full time or part time.

Breeders attend classes at Medway or field trips three times a month and submit monthly reports online on the puppy. The elevators provide a large house, toys and treats. BASK provides food, veterinary care, training and support.
