2. The conditions of participation and the conditions of admission

The general objective of this training is to train students so that they have in their hands the necessary tools to contribute to a more efficient and fairer organization of health systems, particularly in the countries of the South.

This in turn should make it possible to achieve the priority objective of Belgian cooperation, to ensure the right to health for all.

The specific objective is to provide students with the skills enabling them to analyze and evaluate health policies, programs and systems in their particular context.

These skills are among those needed to strengthen the governance and resilience of health programs and systems.

The general admission requirements are as follows:

  • have basic knowledge of public health as evidenced by a master’s degree in public health, equivalent training or equivalent professional experience;
  • have at least 2 years of public health experience;
  • have good knowledge of written English.

The introduction of a scholarship application must be done according to the introduction procedures and meet the admissibility criteria described below.

The selection of scholarship holders is carried out by a selection panel for each training course after analysis of their administrative admissibility by ARES.

All files received between the first and the last day of the call will be treated equally.

ARES encourages female candidates, with equal quality, female candidates will be preferred.

Admissibility criteria

Applying for an ARES scholarship is completely free.

ARES does not charge any fees at any stage of the application or selection process whatsoever.

For his request to be admissible, the candidate must:

  1. Has nationality, resides and works in one of the countries mentioned above.
  2. Have a diploma comparable to a Belgian 1st cycle diploma
  3. Evidence of a relevant professional occupation
  4. Complete the file in the language in which the training is given and can attest to a good written and spoken knowledge of it.
  5. Apply for only one training.

The selection phase is carried out by a deliberating jury organized for each training.

ARES grants the selection panel the right to assess the compliance of the files with the common selection criteria described below, taken individually or in combination with one another.
