Academic Position in Geriatric Psychiatry, Department of Psychiatry, Cumming School of Medicine

Position Description

The Department of Psychiatry, in partnership with the Hotchkiss Brain Institute, at the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary, invites applications for a Tenure Track position as a geriatric psychiatrist at the Assistant Professor level.

The successful candidate will establish an active research program that focuses on the mental health of older adults.  They will lead an innovative clinical research program with a strength in health services research and the care of the elderly. The ability to interact with existing health services strengths at the University of Calgary and current geriatric psychiatry and geriatrics research is required.

Qualifications include an MD and additional research experience.  An advanced degree and post-doctoral research experience in geriatric psychiatry is required. The applicant must present evidence of a strong publication record, as well as a demonstrated ability to attract peer-reviewed funding. Candidates must show evidence of ability to develop a productive, externally funded research program, and fit with one or more of the ten Brain and Mental Health Teams of the HBI (http://www.hbi.ucalgary.ca/our-research).

The position provides protected time for research, and will include expectations to contribute to teaching as well as service to the Department, Faculty, Institute or University, particularly as this relates to advancing the area of geriatric mental health.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to be part of a prolific and diverse research environment in the Hotchkiss Brain Institute and the Department of Psychiatry and Mathison Centre for Mental Health Research & Education, with access to state of the art core infrastructure.
