The Interdisciplinary Center for Mountain Research (CIRM) is offering a competition for the post of First Assistant (Post-doc) in monitoring socio-ecological mountain systems .
The CIRM brings together more than 90 researchers who work on mountain themes by associating the human sciences and the natural sciences. It offers an international, interdisciplinary, stimulating environment conducive to high-level research. It regularly hosts conferences and guest researchers and develops research geared to the needs of mountain regions, in particular the Valais and Vaud Alps.

Your activities
The candidate will work on the BlueMount project ( https://wp.unil.ch/bluemount/ ) which aims to develop a platform for monitoring socio-ecological mountain systems on a regional scale. By socio-ecological mountain systems, we mean any system at the interface between nature and society in mountain regions.
The recruited person will be responsible for (1) developing the conceptual framework of the monitoring program, integrating environmental and societal monitoring in a balanced manner; (2) to implement a prototype for socio-ecological monitoring of the CIRM mountain study region based on multivariate indicators; and (3) publish the results in scientific journals. The research will be carried out in close collaboration with the BlueMount project team (resp. Christophe Randin and Davnah Urbach) and with the project steering committee (led by Iago Otero). The research will be supervised by Prof. Emmanuel Reynard, (director of CIRM) and Dr Christophe Randin (resp. BlueMount).
The candidate will devote 80% of his / her time to his / her personal research work within the framework of the BlueMount project and 10% to interdisciplinary activities of the CIRM (seminars, workshops, exchanges with other researchers, etc. .).

Your profile
The candidate must have a doctorate in interdisciplinary environmental sciences, or a doctorate in social sciences or natural sciences, with skills in the socio-ecological analysis of mountain environments. A good knowledge of public environmental policies in Switzerland and proven skills in geomatics approaches (database management, GIS, remote sensing, for example), environmental or societal monitoring, or integrated monitoring approaches (socio- ecological) are expected. Language skills in French and English are expected.
