Postdoctoral fellow position in cardiometabolic genomics

We are looking for a talented, energetic postdoctoral fellow to join the Pajukanta laboratory at the Department of Genetics, David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, the University of California, Los Angeles, CA, USA. Our research group is investigating genetic predisposition to obesity and related cardiometabolic disorders in diverse populations using integrative omics approaches combining functional and computational genomics data.

Recent examples of our work include Jew B et al. Nature Communications 2020;11:1971; Gallois A et al. Nature Communications 2019;10:4788. Raulerson CK et al. American Journal of Human Genetics 2019;105:773-787; Garske KM et al. Nature Metabolism 2019;1:630-642; and Pan DZ et al. Nature Communications 2018;9:1512.

Available postdoctoral projects include

1) Single cell/nucleus RNA-sequencing analyses in human tissue cohorts to decompose cell-type proportions and assess cell-type specific expression of genes in order to elucidate cell-type specific mechanisms underlying obesity-related cardiometabolic disorders

2) Identification of gene-environment interactions and causal mechanisms contributing to cardiometabolic disorders in diverse populations by integrating genomics data with clinical phenotypes in extensive cohorts and biobanks

Required skills:

PhD or MD-PhD degree

Two or less years since the PhD degree

Experience in computational genomics leading to publication in peer-reviewed journals

Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills

Strong work ethics

Strong computational skills
