Postdoc in statistical genetics -National Institute for Health and Medical Research (INSERM)

We are seeking a highly motivated and creative postdoctoral researcher in computational biology/statistical genetics to join our Team “Cardiovascular Genetics” at l’institut du thorax (the ITX) in Nantes, France.

The ITX (INSERMCNRS & Nantes University) is a structure at the forefront of translational research against cardiovascular diseases (CVD), which offers an internationally competitive research environment and cutting edge infrastructure for genomics and big data tools. The team “Cardiovascular Genetics”, led by JJ Schott and R Redon, is running research programs addressing a large spectrum of cardiovascular diseases including cardiac arrhythmia, congenital heart disease, cardiac valve disease and, intracranial aneurysm.

The fellow will develop and apply innovative analytical approaches in the area of human genomics and carry on research studies on cardiovascular disease. He/she will work closely with clinicians, biologists and computer scientists to analyze large genomic datasets from patient bio-banks annotated with extensive clinical/phenotype information. He/she will develop, optimize and/or operate data analysis workflows, interpret the biological results, communicate his/her research outputs to the scientific community, and contribute to the design of downstream custom analyses.

This 2-year postdoctoral position takes place in a context of international collaborations allowing to the candidate to travel and interact with to our partner labs. The successful candidate will get privileged access to in-house state-of-the-art core facilities in genomics and bioinformatics.

The ITX provides a highly interactive environment with collaborative opportunities, access to high performance computing clusters, a cloud computing environment, automated analytical workflows and mentorship from expert scientists in data management & analysis, and delivery of high-quality results. The laboratory supports strong teamwork as well as individual career development. We are committed to increasing the number of individuals with disabilities in its workforce and therefore encourage applications from such qualified individuals. Furthermore, we seek to increase the number of women in those areas where they are underrepresented and explicitly encourage women to apply.
