tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, in the School of Social Work.

Lakehead University, Thunder Bay Campus, invites applications for one tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, in the School of Social Work. The position will commence on or around August 1, 2020.

We are a small, research-active, community-involved School with an excellent undergraduate program that prepares students for generalist practice, and an MSW program that prepares students for advanced generalist practice. Our undergraduate program is offered in two formats: a four-year HBSW, and a 12-month HBSW designed specifically for students with a previous undergraduate degree. We have a particular commitment to education for practice in northern, rural and remote environments, but our graduates are equally prepared for work in urban centres.

The ideal candidate will either have a PhD (or ABD) in Social Work, or PhD in a related discipline together with an MSW degree, demonstrated ability and record to conduct impactful research and publish in peer-reviewed journals, and ability to teach at the BSW and MSW levels. Direct practice experience in clinical social work (counselling), and remote, rural, and Indigenous communities would be considered an asset. The applicants should have the ability to teach generalist social work practice with a specific focus on social work communication and theory. Applicants should have a personal and professional commitment to diversity and social justice. Experience in online teaching and graduate supervision would be advantageous.
