The Abie Technical Leadership Award is our most prestigious award and celebrates a woman who has led or developed a product, process or innovation that has had a noticeable impact on business or society. Eligible applicants must work on projects that require in-depth technical knowledge and must demonstrate a commitment to increasing the representation of women in technology.

Price

  • The recipients are honored by the technical women community at Grace Hopper Celebration and invited to give a presentation on the main stage at the GHC.
  • The winner will also have several opportunities to express themselves through GHC on their work and achievements.
  • Travel with all costs paid to the GHC.
  • Cash prize.

Who should apply

This award is open to technologists at the executive and higher levels, including:

  • Technical managers responsible for the technological strategy or expertise at the organizational level and / or high level functional responsibility for a technical product, as well as individual contributors at executive level.
  • Technical managers who may reside outside of the “technical career path” or R & D / engineering function, but manage technical employees and the delivery of technical products, direct technical development, project teams, divisions and organizations, and / or possess in-depth technical knowledge / specialization.

Selection criteria

The prize is awarded to a female technologist who inspires the technological community of women with her exceptional technological contributions. Applicants are assessed based on the following:

  1. Technology contributions:   The candidate has demonstrated leadership in undertaking sustained technical work that covers an important new area. Consider the breadth, depth and sustained nature of his work as a technologist and leader in his field.
  2. Overall impact:   The candidate’s technical contributions greatly affected businesses or society.
  3. Impact on the community of women in technology:   The candidate deliberately acted to increase the impact, representation and efficiency of women in technology.

Justificative documents

You will need to submit:

  • Two letters of recommendation from the candidate’s professional contacts
    • Endorsements should be chosen to represent a range of perspectives and institutions and to provide additional ideas or evidence of the candidate’s impact. Each letter should focus on the accomplishments that the endorser can attest to and put into context.
  • The candidate’s biography (maximum 500 words)
  • A two to three page declaration of merit from the applicant
    • Proponents are preferably recognized members of the community who are not from the same organization as the candidate and who may address the candidate’s contributions outside their organization.
  • CV or CV of the candidate
  • High resolution photograph of the candidate in landscape orientation (minimum 5 MB JPG)
