Assistant professor in the group of Surface Nanostructures

Jerzy Haber Institute of Catalysis and Surface Chemistry PAS invites applications for an Assistant Professor Position in the “Surface Nanostructures” group.

The candidates who meet the conditions stated in the act “Ustawa o Polskiej Akademii Nauk”

dated 30 April 2010 (Dz.U. 2019 poz. 1183 z póź. zm.), art 89. ust 2 for the position of Assistant Professor are encouraged to apply for the position.

The candidate will participate in the study of structural, electronic and magnetic properties of surfaces and nanostructures carried out under ultra-high vacuum (UHV) conditions using microscopic and spectroscopic techniques and synchrotron radiation.

Research will include:

  • epitaxial metal oxides and their phase transformations,
  • oxide-metal nanostructures for spintronic applications,
  • metallic and oxide nanoparticles on monocrystalline substrates.

The assistant professor will be responsible for:

  • preparation of nanostructures by molecular beam epitaxy (MBE),
  • preparation of monocrystalline surfaces for microscopic and spectroscopic studies,
  • surface and nanostructure studies using low energy electron microscope / photoemission electron microscope (LEEM / PEEM), scanning tunneling microscopy (STM), photoemission spectroscopy (XPS) and synchrotron methods,
  • adsorption studies by temperature programmed desorption (TPD),
  • analysis of the correlation between the structure, morphology and composition of the surface nanostructures and their magnetic and chemical properties,
  • writing scientific papers,
  • preparation of grant applications that will provide support funding for the conducted research.
