Research Professor in Bedrock Geology

We are looking for a Research Professor in Bedrock Geology with focus on the field to regional scale studies of plate tectonics, orogenesis and metallogeny linked to mineral exploration. You will develop state-of-the-art research and innovations as well as customer-oriented applications related to geological modelling and mineral exploration. You are expected to successfully bid for competitive research funding sources and to initiate, prepare and lead national and international science and innovation (S&I) projects in the field, thus implementing strategic competence development.

For the Research Professor position a PhD degree in geosciences or a closely related discipline is required. You are a recognized international expert in tectonics and metallogeny, and have experience in the Precambrian geology and ore-forming systems. Furthermore, you have an excellent track record and experience in S&I activities related to tectonics and metallogenic research and their applications.

You must be highly motivated, have well-established networks with international research groups and be able to demonstrate an ability to attract external funding. Excellent communication skills in English are expected.   Experience in geological 3D-4D modelling as well as in novel concepts of numerical and/or analogue modelling are a merit for the position.

The appointment is for five years, with the possibility of extension. The preferred starting date is 1.8.2020. You will be located in Finland at our Espoo office. The starting salary for Research Professor is 5,950 – 6,340 EUR/month.
