Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke) is a research organisation working to promote bioeconomy and sustainable use of natural resources. Work tasks
The research professorship in international forest policy and governance focuses on global and regional (e.g. EU) policy processes affecting forest sector (forestry and forest industries) development. Special emphasis is on the interactions of European and global policy processes (e.g. land use, energy, climate change, environment, trade) and institutions (international, private, governmental, non-governmental) with respect to forest sector.
The research professor is expected to actively develop the strategic orientation of ambitious research projects, lead the development of large-scale project entities, and to obtain long-term broad-based funding. Furthermore, the professor is expected to develop forest policy and governance research in Luke and participate in policy assessments.
Qualifications
The research professor should have a doctoral degree in a relevant field (e.g. forest policy, political science, forest or natural resource economics). A successful applicant should have a proven track record on global or European forest policy and governance research, as well as a comprehensive understanding of forest sector. The successful applicant has internationally recognized achievements on theoretical and empirical research, proven track record in obtaining precompetitive research funding, and established international networks. Furthermore, the applicant should have experience in leading demanding research projects and communicating the results with various stakeholders. Proven ability to build high quality research teams is highly appreciated.

Salary
The position is at complexity level 12 – 13 in Luke’s salary system. Therefore, the position-specific salary component is EUR 4 947.83 – 5 588.81 per month. In addition to the position-specific salary component, a salary component based on personal performance will be paid. It can be at most 50% of the position-specific salary component. The applicant may also present a separate salary request.
