Full Professor in Finance, Law, and Regulation (W3) (f/m/x)

We expect the candidate (f/m/x) to possess an excellent research profile concerning the intersection of the fields finance, law, and regulation using the latest theoretical and/or quantitative methods. An expressed willingness to apply economic research to policy questions and transfer theoretical insights into empirical analyses is desir­able. A profile geared towards financial intermediation, the interaction of finance and factor markets, or the im­plications of financial frictions and regulation on resource (re-)allocation and growth is of particular interest. The candidate demonstrates academic excellence by means of top publications in international peer-reviewed jour­nals. The successful acquisition of competitive third-party funding and leadership skills are a strong advantage. An existing network of international research collaborations is expected. The candidate has developed and taught advanced economic graduate courses. Successful (co-)supervision of PhD students and junior faculty are strong advantages. Knowledge of the German language is not a requirement.

The IWH is one of the seven economic research institutes of the Leibniz Association in Germany (www.iwh-halle.de). It focuses on research in structural change and productivity, finance, and macroeconomics. The Professorship will assume the position of a Research Advisor associated with the Department of Financial Markets and a new department “Laws, Regulation, and Factor Markets”, which focuses on studying the interaction of these economic fields.

The Professorship is assigned to the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena (www.wiwi.uni-jena.de). A contribution to the research areas of the faculty and cross-faculty collaboration via the activities of the Schumpeter Center are expected.

In legal terms, there will be an individual selection process carried out for the position hereby announced according to the Thuringian Higher Education Act. If the successful candidate meets the legal requirements, he or she may be appointed as a civil servant, usually in a permanent position. Alternatively, the appointee is assigned according to section 85 (7) Thuringian Higher Education Act. The appointment is to the Friedrich Schiller University Jena and will be followed either by your secondment to or employment with the IWH where you are expected to pursue your main research activities. There is a reduced teaching load of two hours per week per semester. Working place is Halle.
