Polyethylene film specialist, Reborn, has introduced a groundbreaking solution to rethink the way we package and transport bottled water, sodas, and other beverages sold in packs. The company has developed an innovative approach: a handle integrated directly into the packaging film, creating a fully monomaterial and recyclable solution.
Reborn’s Innovation: A Built-in Handle in the Film
Unlike traditional handles that are glued or welded, which often fail or tear the film, Reborn’s system inserts a 50 to 70 mm wide strip of film between the bottles and the shrink wrap, which is precut to fit the strip’s width. A patented tool ensures perfect adhesion using electrostatics, providing several benefits:
- Ultra-resistant handle capable of supporting up to 40 kg
- A single-block multipack with no risk of rupture
- Increased productivity on packaging lines
- A fully recyclable and eco-friendly solution
A Circular and Eco-Responsible Approach
The real advantage of this innovation is that it allows for the entire multipack to be recycled, unlike traditional systems where only 92% of the pack is recyclable. Moreover, the polyethylene used can come from recycled materials, reducing the carbon footprint by 70%.
Mickael Sire, Reborn’s general manager, emphasized that this solution paves the way for 100% circular and eco-responsible multipacks, aligning with consumer expectations and new European packaging regulations.
A Promising Launch
First unveiled at the All4Pack trade show in November, this innovation has already attracted major brands like Roche Claire, U, and Auchan, who are now selling their spring water in these new multipacks. These partnerships validate the potential of this revolutionary solution.
As anti-plastic regulations increase and the European Union considers banning certain types of packaging films by 2025, Reborn’s innovation comes at the perfect time. It has the potential to transform how we buy, transport, and recycle our beverage packs, steering us towards a more sustainable future.
