Postdoctoral research contract (4 years) on functional ecology

The Functional Ecology group of the Arid Zones Experimental Station, an Institute of the Spanish Research Council (CSIC) in Almería (Spain), is recruiting a post-doctoral fellow to address plant-soil and plant-plant interactions in dry and high-elevation environments. Interactions among plants, soil organisms, and abiotic conditions influence plant performance, species diversity, and community structure, ultimately driving ecosystem processes. The successful candidate would focus on several aspects of plant-plant and plant-soil feedbacks in contrasting environments, assessing their variability along environmental gradients and using cutting-edge molecular methods. The group has significant funding from the Spanish Research Agency and other national and international sources. The candidate should have a PhD degree in Ecology, Biology, Biochemistry, Forestry, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Agronomy or related disciplines, and a proven publication record in international peer-reviewed journals. The successful candidate should have practical knowledge of standard methods in plant ecology and preferably of microbiological and molecular techniques, including metagenomic analysis and qPCR. Experience in field ecology and modelling abilities would be a plus.
