Claussen Simon Foundation ‘Horizons’ – scholarships for prospective teachers with a migrant background

With the Horizons scholarship program, the Claussen Simon Foundation, the Jürgen Sengpiel Foundation and the Dürr Foundation support prospective teachers with a migration background who are completing a teaching degree at the University of Hamburg.

Against the background of increasing social heterogeneity, the scholarship program aims to promote diversity in educational institutions and the competent use of it. The professional and personal development of the scholarship holders should help to support the prospective teachers on their way to school and to strengthen their individual skills.

Type of promotion

The two-year scholarship includes monthly financial and non-material support, which provides the scholarship holders with practical knowledge for their future educational work.

The non-material support consists of seminars in which knowledge and skills on various topics of school practice are imparted. In addition, all scholarship holders have the opportunity to set personal development goals and pursue them in the context of individual training. Monthly meetings for exchange and reflection with the other scholarship holders round off the curriculum.

Scholarship holders of the & # 39; Horizonte & # 39; program receive financial support for a period of two years:

  • Scholarship of 300 euros per month
  • Book allowance of 150 euros per semester

In individual cases, it is possible to pay a monthly grant of up to EUR 861. The examination and award of an increased scholarship payment takes place in individual cases on application and after a separate examination.
