Peter J. Braam Early Career Research Fellowship in Global Wellbeing 2024

Biological and Medical Sciences

Salary £37,099 p.a. plus allowances.

Merton College proposes to appoint a three-year, fixed-term early career researcher to the Peter J. Braam Early Career Research Fellowship in Global Wellbeing starting from October 2024 to January 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter. The post is available to a researcher at the early career stage and is intended to provide opportunity for the successful applicant to establish a research profile and to help prepare the postholder for an academic career.

The Peter J. Braam Early Career Researcher is expected to undertake a high-quality programme of original research in collaboration with other researchers, in a department within the University of Oxford. The College will consider applications from those working in the biological and medical sciences who have an interest in infectious disease, biodiversity and food security, as long as a genuine case is made as to how the proposed research contributes specifically to the advancement of Global Wellbeing.

Candidates should hold a recently completed doctorate or be close to completion of a doctorate and will have submitted their thesis no later than 3 months before the start date.  Those who formally submitted their doctoral thesis for viva voce examination before 1 October 2022 are not eligible, unless they have had a career break or if there are other exceptional circumstances. Those whose doctorate interrupted their professional training, should have completed their professional training since 1 October 2022.

Candidates must also have research expertise in their chosen field commensurate with the candidate’s career as demonstrated by a recently completed (or close to being completed) doctoral thesis and published or forthcoming original research articles in refereed journals (as relevant to the candidate’s field), or evidence of such future achievement. Evidence of active participation in the successful dissemination of research findings and a coherent plan of research for the duration of the appointment, and which is expected to make a valuable contribution to the candidate’s field, are also required.

  Au cours de leur deuxième année d'études , les lauréats de la bourse auront la possibilité d'effectuer un stage au siège de Ferrero à Luxembourg. Les stages seront attribués en accord avec l'entreprise d'accueil et feront l'objet d'un contrat de stage.

  Le siège social de Ferrero au Luxembourg abrite de nombreuses fonctions commerciales de l'entreprise et des efforts raisonnables seront déployés pour attribuer des stages en fonction des intérêts professionnels et des ambitions des lauréats de la bourse.

  Bâloise Assurances Luxembourg SA et Bâloise Vie Luxembourg SA Bourse et stage L'Université du Luxembourg a signé en février 2020 un accord de partenariat avec Bâloise Assurances Luxembourg SA et Bâloise Vie Luxembourg SA encadrant un programme de bourses d'études et de stages.

  • Une allocation mensuelle de 300 € dès la sélection et pour la durée régulière des études de Bachelor (semestre 4-6 pour le Bachelor en Gestion Appliquée et Semestre 5-6 pour le Bachelor en Economie)
  • Un stage dans l'un de ses différents départements

  Le semestre de stage ne sera pas couvert par l'allocation mais payé selon le règlement des stages de la Bâloise.

• Critère d'éligibilité

  • inscrit au troisième semestre du Bachelor en Gestion Appliquée ou au quatrième semestre du Bachelor en Economie
  • non inscrit dans un programme ultérieur de licence ou de master,
  • citoyens luxembourgeois ou de l’Union européenne,
  • résidant au Grand-Duché de Luxembourg ou dans la Grande Région du Luxembourg,
  • le revenu familial des candidats ne peut excéder le triple du revenu minimum luxembourgeois.

• Procédure de demande

  Les candidats sont invités à soumettre les documents suivants (en anglais, français ou allemand) :

  • une lettre de motivation indiquant quel département de la Bâloise le candidat souhaite rejoindre pendant le stage,
  • un curriculum vitae, comprenant des copies de leurs diplômes, certificats et suppléments officiels à ceux-ci,
  • une justification des revenus de leurs parents confirmée par la présentation d'une copie de la déclaration fiscale des revenus de l'année précédente,
  • leur situation familiale,
  • un justificatif de résidence au Luxembourg ou dans la Grande Région du Luxembourg,
  • une attestation d'inscription à l'Université du Luxembourg (en cas de sélection, l'étudiant devra remettre une telle attestation d'inscription à la Baloise chaque semestre).

• Procédure et critères de sélection

  • performance académique,
  • effort général et progrès de l'étudiant dans ses performances académiques,
  • l'éthique et la motivation du candidat.

  Un comité de sélection composé du responsable des ressources humaines et d'un autre responsable de la Bâloise (Opérations ou Corporate Governance) évaluera les candidatures sur la base des critères de sélection énumérés ci-dessus.

  La direction de Baloise Assurances Luxembourg SA et de Baloise Vie Luxembourg SA validera ensuite la sélection finale des boursiers.

  • Le deuxième versement de 4 500 € est soumis à l'évaluation à mi-parcours du boursier par le directeur du programme d'études afin d'évaluer s'il répond aux critères pour recevoir le deuxième versement du programme de bourses.

  • Sélectionné dans le Master en droit fiscal européen et international
  • S'engager à entreprendre des études à temps plein dans le Master en droit fiscal européen et international 

• Procédure de demande

  Les candidats seront invités par l'Université du Luxembourg à soumettre dans leur candidature au Master en fiscalité européenne et internationale :

  • une lettre de motivation exprimant son intérêt pour l'obtention de la bourse, détaillant sa motivation à poursuivre une carrière en fiscalité et sa situation financière.

• Procédure de sélection

  L'Université, en collaboration avec la Fondation ATOZ sous l'égide de la Fondation de Luxembourg , sélectionnera les étudiants boursiers et financera leurs bourses.

  Le comité de sélection, composé de. Le professeur Werner Haslehner (Université du Luxembourg) et les membres du comité de direction de la Fondation ATOZ examineront la lettre de motivation de chaque candidat, ainsi que l'impression générale des candidats et de leurs besoins financiers.

  Attention, les dossiers incomplets seront immédiatement rejetés. Aucun recours n'est possible contre les décisions. En postulant au programme de bourses, le candidat accepte ce règlement dans son intégralité. 

  Pour que les étudiants sélectionnés puissent bénéficier du programme de bourses, ils devront signer une « convention de bourse » distincte.

  Advanzia Bank prévoit de continuer à offrir une bourse tous les deux ans à un étudiant, qui comprend une allocation mensuelle, une opportunité de stage ainsi que la possibilité d'un emploi d'été. 

• A propos du stage

  Advanzia Bank offrira la possibilité d'un stage à l'étudiant en master sélectionné et accompagné pour effectuer le stage du 4ème semestre au sein du département Risques d'Advanzia Bank. Le stage aura une durée maximale de six mois (un semestre). Pendant cette période, l'étudiant en master aura la possibilité de finaliser son mémoire de master.

  500 €/mois (M1) 750 €/mois (M2) Une allocation de cinq cents euros (500,00 € par mois) sera versée la première année (M1) pour une durée de douze (12) mois et portée à sept cent cinquante euros (750,00 € par mois) la deuxième année (M2) pour une durée de douze (12) mois. Dans le cas où l'étudiant ne réussit pas le M1, l'allocation avec la contribution mensuelle prendra automatiquement fin et Advanzia Bank sera libre de sélectionner un nouvel étudiant à haut potentiel. L'allocation est cumulable avec le dispositif d'indemnisation des stages d'Advanzia Bank. La durée cumulée de l'allocation et du stage ne peut excéder deux ans au total, durée de référence d'un programme de Master.

• Les critères de sélection

  La sélection est effectuée par le directeur des études M1 du Master of Science in Finance and Economics après avis d'Advanzia Bank et un entretien de l'étudiant est organisé avec le CFO et les RH de la banque. La sélection de l'étudiant est basée sur ses résultats passés et ses besoins financiers. Les candidats sont éligibles à la bourse s'ils :

  • parle un excellent anglais
  • sont en tant qu'étudiants en finance intéressés par le modèle économique d'Advanzia Bank et sont bons en mathématiques, statistiques, informatique et gestion des risques.
