ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION

This alternative café is a non-profit cooperative with social purpose turning around 3 dimensions: – Friendly atmosphere: open to any kind of public, organisation of entertainment activities (board game nights, concerts, free stages, workshops, conversation groups,…). Altérez-Vous is a place to meet, share and interact – Responsible consumption: the café gives priority to local, seasonal, organic and fair products – Awareness to societal issues: organisation of debates, conferences, group discussions, meetings with local farmers, awareness events,… Examples of tasks for the volunteer: to help with the organisation & the promotion of cultural activities & the café (thematic nights, concerts, exhibitions, intercultural activities, promotion through Facebook, taking pictures,…); Awareness to societal issues directly with the clients & through the organisation of events/workshops,…; Development of local, organic & fair trade by helping the staff to find new products

ACCOMMODATION, FOOD AND TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS

The volunteers will be accommodated in a shared flat with other youngsters (mainly students of the University of Louvain-la-Neuve or young workers). Louvain-la-Neuve is a pedestrian city with all facilities accessible by foot. There is no need to take public transportation in order to reach Altérez-Vous and Alter d’en face, from the flat. Volunteer will receive a monthly allowance for food and pocket money

TRAINING DURING THE ACTIVITY

PARTICIPANT PROFILE

We are looking for volunteer who are interested by societal issues in general and motivated by our project. We are looking for flexible, open minded, organized, autonomous, dynamic and joyful persons ! Who are ready to be change-makers with us, have a team spirit, a good capacity to adapt and ready to take initiatives ! The volunteers must talk fluently in French, have communication, photography, writing, workshops facilitation and project management/organisation skills.
