The department works to ensure high quality and societal relevance in terms of research, education and knowledge exchange. The person(s) employed in an assistant professorship must therefore contribute to the development, strengthening and focus of the department’s research and research activities, as well as undertake teaching and supervision relating to the department’s core program activities and handle various administrative tasks related to teaching.

Regarding teaching, the applicants must be able to teach (in Danish and/or English) and supervise within the following (and other, if possible) areas:
• Direct and indirect Tax Law. The applicant will be responsible for the operation and the development of a number of Tax Law courses at both the HD programme (Graduate Diploma in Business Administration) and the Master of Science (MSc) in Business Administration and Auditing programme.
• Constitutional Law. The applicant is expected to contribute to the operation and the development of the Constitutional Law courses at the law programme.
• General Administrative Law. The applicant is expected to contribute to the operation and the development of a number of Administrative Law courses.
In order to qualify for the positions, applicants must also meet the department’s qualification criteria, which you can find here. This assessment is carried out by an appointed assessment committee.
In order to be considered for the position, the applicants must also be a match for the department’s current needs, the department’s strategy and the job tasks tied to the position. This assessment is carried out by a hiring committee and is based on i.a. the applicant’s research and teaching profile, the overall evaluation, the applicant’s research plan and expected level of contribution to the department’s further development as well as the provided information and overall impression during a possible job interview.

The Department of Law is part of the Faculty of Business and Social Sciences, which is comprised of six departments. The Department of Law currently has 50 employees divided into four research sections (Private Law, Public Law, International Law and Law in Society) and a secretariat. Furthermore, the department has a number of part-time employees. The department seeks to secure high quality and societal relevance within judicial research, education and knowledge exchange. The Department of Law offers the traditional law degree alongside a combined HA (jur)/MSc (Econ) course. In addition, the department is responsible for the teaching of other legal subjects offered at SDU.
Application, salary, etc.
Appointment to the position requires a PhD or equivalent and will be in accordance with the salary agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations.
An application must contain the following:

• Certificates/diplomas
• A comprehensive list of publications which includes the publications attached to the application.
• A teaching portfolio containing documentation of the applicant’s teaching qualifications as well the applicant’s visions on teaching methods and the development thereof.
• A three-year research plan containing information concerning already planned research and publication plans.
• Up to three academic publications based on which the applicant wishes to be evaluated. Please attach a pdf file for each publication. If there are co-authors on a publication, a co-author declaration must be attached in the relevant pdf file, stating the applicant’s contribution to the publication. The applicant’s Ph.D. dissertation should be attached as one of the requested publications along with the written evaluation thereof.
Documents which are not in Danish, Norwegian or Swedish must be translated into English. Without further notice, SDU may discard applications which are incomplete with regard to the above-mentioned criteria.
Application procedure
Assessment of applications will be done under existing Appointment Order for universities. Applications will be assessed by an assessment committee. The committee may request additional information, and if so, it is the responsibility of the applicant to provide the necessary material.
When the deadline for submitting applications is met, a number of applications (five at a minimum) are selected for an academic evaluation (shortlisting), based on an overall assessment of which of the applicants match the job description and the department’s needs the best.
Once the evaluation committee have completed their assessment, each of the applicants in concern will receive the evaluation concerning him/her. Thereafter, a number of applicants are invited to a job interview.
According to the University of Southern Denmark’s internal guidelines, there must be at least three qualified applicants to a position before it can be filled.
Applications that are incomplete with regard to the above requirements will not be assessed by the committee.
