About the scholarship
Scholarship dates: October 2020 – October 2021
Residence dates in San Diego: November 7 – December 11, 2020
The Women PeaceMakers Scholarship provides a unique opportunity for local women peacebuilders to engage in a cycle of learning, practicing, researching and strengthening peacebuilding partnerships by participating in a 12-month scholarship. By co-developing evidence-based and data-driven solutions, through this association, the women and organizations at the center of our most serious peacebuilding challenges demonstrate why they are best placed to influence change positive.
During the 12-month fellowship with the Kroc IPJ, fellows:
- Learn from and with other leading scholars and the Kroc school team;
- Acquire new perspectives, support and innovative approaches to peacebuilding;
- Extend their professional peacebuilding networks;
- Advance vital research on peacebuilding that focuses on changing practices and policies

Purpose of this year’s scholarship
Each year, the scholarship’s research focuses on a specific area of peacebuilding on which it collects evidence and data. During this year, we will focus on:
How can international peacebuilding organizations better partner with local women peacebuilders to address the space closures and increased insecurity that women currently face when trying to end cycles of violence?
In these times of Covid-19, we believe that this issue is becoming more relevant as we witness a rise in authoritarianism and that women face greater obstacles to their participation in peacebuilding.
