Façonner les leaders européens de la recherche pour la durabilité marine (SEAS) est un programme de bourses de recherche postdoctorale pour 37 boursiers lancé et géré par l'Université de Bergen. Ce projet a reçu un financement du programme de recherche et d'innovation Horizon 2020 de l'Union européenne dans le cadre de la convention de subvention Marie Skłodowska-Curie n° 101034309.

In this third call, open April 1 – June 12, 2023, we invite talented experienced researchers to apply for 6 fellowships. Successful candidates will be employed in fixed-term fulltime postdoctoral research fellow positions at UiB.

Le programme Serra Húnter (SHP) offre 49 postes de professeur titulaire et 3 de professeur associé dans les universités publiques de Catalogne (Espagne). Des postes sont disponibles dans différents domaines d'études au sein des sciences de la vie, des sciences, de l'ingénierie, des sciences sociales et humaines. Avantages
Pour les chargés de cours titularisés, un contrat à temps plein à durée déterminée est proposé pour une période pouvant aller jusqu'à six ans. À la fin du contrat, l'université s'engage dans une démarche d'ouverture d'un poste permanent de professeur associé à condition que le candidat passe une évaluation positive. Pour les professeurs associés, un contrat permanent à temps plein est proposé. Le salaire annuel de départ est actuellement de 35757,65 euros pour un chargé de cours et de 39457,06 euros pour un professeur associé, avant impôts. À la fin de leur carrière universitaire, les professeurs associés peuvent avoir doublé leur salaire de départ s'ils reçoivent des évaluations positives dans les évaluations du mérite de l'enseignement et de la recherche. Les chargés de cours peuvent également recevoir des compléments de salaire pour leurs mérites d'enseignement et de recherche. Positions are available in different fields of study within life sciences, science, engineering, social sciences and humanities. Successful candidates will be hired by the university offering the position and are expected to cooperate with existing groups and/or develop new lines of research, complementary to those already in place. Please note that these positions also entail teaching obligations.
Qualifications
In order to participate, candidates must hold a PhD and are expected to have an excellent record of publications in good venues in their fields, have had international exposure and have participated in competitive research projects.They should also have teaching experience. For associate professor positions, candidates must have at least three years of post-doctoral experience.

Benefits
For tenure-eligible lecturers, a fixed-term full-time contract is offered for a period of up to six years. At the end of the contract, the university undertakes a process to open a permanent position as associate professor provided that the candidate passes a positive evaluation. For associate professors, a full-time permanent contract is offered. The annual starting salary is currently 35757.65 euros for a lecturer and 39457.06 euros for an associate professor, before taxes. At the end of their academic career, associate professors can have doubled their starting salary if they receive positive assessments in teaching and research merit evaluations. Lecturers may also receive salary supplements for teaching and research merits. In addition to salary, contracts include health, retirement and unemployment benefits.

The selection process has two steps. The first step, international call, enables candidates to apply for the accreditation required to participate in the second step. The second step, competition at the university, is the actual recruitment competition process, handled by the university in accordance with its own rules. The aim is to provide inspirational and innovative ideas of how education and employment policy-makers and practitioners from around the world can contribute to greener and fairer economies and societies.
We are looking for stories from:
- Enterprises, introducing green and clean technologies or production processes as well as developing the necessary skills for their employees;
- Training providers, equipping teachers and trainers with up-to-date knowledge on environmental issues and green technologies to improve the relevance and quality of their teaching programmes;
- Industries and sectors, introducing training courses and standards developing green skills that are needed for their area of work;
- Public institutions, developing either environmental awareness programmes or technical green skills, in coordination with diverse public and non-public stakeholders;
- Public employment services, providing people with information about sustainability and helping them to develop skills that will support them to find employment in occupations relevant to the green economy;
- Schools and teachers/educators, implementing innovative measures and actions that prepare learners for the green economy;
- Companies and businesses applying innovative practice in using artificial intelligence for developing green skills.
What’s in it for you?
- Winners will receive the ETF Green Skills Award 2023 helping them to build new partnerships and extend their networks.
- Winners will be invited to attend an award ceremony where they will meet like-minded talents and help spread the 'green' voice.
- The finalists will be showcased in high-profile publications and online communications of the ETF and its international partners, maximising the awareness and positive impact of each initiative.
- The ETF will produce short films of the finalists, helping to take their stories to new audiences around the world.
Who will decide?
From the 10 finalists, one winner will be selected by a public vote and a further two winners will be selected by an international jury composed of experts from different EU bodies and other international institutions. The selection criteria will include relevance, innovation, replicability and impact.

Applying is easy. Complete the online application form in Arabic, English, French, Russian and Ukrainian and submit it by 23 April 2023 (23:59 CEST). Make sure you tell us how your initiative can be continued over time (i.e. sustainable), why it is innovative, and how it makes a long-lasting positive change in the community.

Programme

Funding of up to $10,000 is available for events and activities taking place from 1 July 2023 to 1 June 2024 that align with the program’s objectives below.
The program's objectives are:
- deliver high quality activities that improve and promote international student wellbeing
- enhance social connections and belonging of international students living in the Territory
- increase community understanding of the benefits and value of international students, including population growth and other economic, social and cultural contributions
- provide tools and strategies for international students to manage mental health, physical safety and employment.
The International Student Wellbeing Grant Program has been established by the Northern Territory Government through Study NT to enhance the wellbeing of international students studying in the Territory.
StudyNT works with education providers, and the business and local communities to welcome international students to achieve academic success and discover new pathways to their future in Australia’s Northern Territory.

What can be funded
- exciting and innovative ideas which enrich the wellbeing and experiences of international students while they are studying in the Territory
- events and activities that meet the program objectives, including activities that increase international students’ social connections and create positive opportunities for them to connect and get involved in the local community
- events and activities such as (but not limited to) sporting activities, mental health awareness activities, volunteering and leadership programs and community and multicultural events
- travel costs associated with an event/activity (up to 50% of total grant funding)
- fees (up to 50% of total grant funding) for facilitators / consultants for the proposed activity or event (e.g. professional development workshop for international students)
- catering costs (food and non-alcoholic beverages) not exceeding 25% of the total value of the grant.

Conditions d'admission
Pour être considéré pour un poste de doctorat en gestion à l'ERIM, vous devez :
- détenir une maîtrise, une maîtrise ou une maîtrise en commerce ou en économie, ou dans des domaines connexes tels que la psychologie, la sociologie, l'ingénierie ou les mathématiques (selon le projet de doctorat)
- avoir d'excellents résultats dans votre premier diplôme ou vos études supérieures

En plus de ces exigences formelles, les candidats au programme sont sélectionnés sur la base de leur CV, de leurs références académiques et d'entretiens avec les superviseurs potentiels.
Conditions d'emploi
Nos projets de doctorat sont des postes entièrement financés et salariés, ce qui signifie que les doctorants nommés sont des employés (promovendi) de l'Université Erasmus de Rotterdam (EUR). Le salaire et les avantages sont conformes à la convention collective de travail des universités néerlandaises (CAO-NU). Les salaires mensuels bruts fixes sont de 2 541 € la première année, 2 960 € la deuxième année, 3 098 € la troisième année et 3 247 € la quatrième année. L'EUR offre des conditions d'emploi attrayantes , qui comprennent une indemnité de vacances de 8 %, une prime de fin d'année de 8,3 % et un nombre généreux de jours de vacances.

Admission Requirements
To be considered for a PhD position in Management at ERIM, you are expected to:
- hold an MSc, MA or MPhil degree in Business or Economics, or from related fields such as Psychology, Sociology, Engineering, or Mathematics (depending on PhD project)

For internet-based TOEFL test, ERIM requires a total score of at least 100 and all section scores (writing, speaking, reading, and listening) should be at least 23. A minimum score of 600 is required on paper-based TOEFL test. For IELTS, the minimum overall band score is 7.5 and all section scores (writing, speaking, reading, and listening) should be at least 6.5. The language test results should not be older than two years.
In addition to these formal requirements, candidates for the programme are selected on the basis of their CVs, academic references, and interviews with the potential supervisors.
Conditions of employment
Our PhD projects are fully funded and salaried positions, meaning that appointed PhD candidates are employees (promovendi) of Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR). Salary and benefits are in accordance with the collective labour agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO-NU). Fixed, gross monthly salaries are €2,541 in the first year, €2,960 in the second year, €3,098 in the third year, and €3,247 in the fourth year. EUR has attractive employment conditions, which include a holiday allowance of 8 per cent, an end-of-year bonus of 8.3 per cent, and a generous number of vacation days.
Successful candidates are appointed on a full-time basis for a duration up to five years. The PhD position is intended to start 1 September 2023.
PhD candidates also benefit from the state-of-the-art research facilities and financial support programme (ERIM Support Programmes - ESP), which ERIM set up for a wide range of research-related activities such as conference participation, international job markets, external courses, scientific and educational literature, visits to international supervisors, and international research studies.

Description du projet:
Ce projet examine les pratiques éthiques dans l'histoire de la médecine en Asie du Sud-Est coloniale, avec les Indes néerlandaises, la Malaisie britannique et les Philippines américaines comme cas comparatifs. Les médecins de cette période (1890-1962) ont poursuivi des recherches sur toutes sortes de maladies, de la lèpre au béribéri. Les populations locales ont participé à cette recherche en tant que sujets de recherche. Cela signifiait qu'ils fournissaient du sang ou de l'urine, étaient examinés et recevaient des médicaments dont les effets et les effets secondaires n'étaient pas encore entièrement connus. Ce projet analyse ces pratiques pour comprendre le monde moral des médecins à l'époque, notamment la relation compliquée entre l'expérimentation dangereuse et le meilleur traitement pour le patient.
Nous recherchons des candidats pour se concentrer sur l'un de ces 2 thèmes :
1. L'histoire des tests, de l'administration et de la résistance des vaccins. L'accent de ce projet de doctorat sera mis sur le test et l'administration de vaccins ainsi que sur les réponses locales aux pratiques médicales occidentales. 2. Tester, administrer et discuter de nouveaux médicaments dans les colonies (XXe siècle). 2 PhD Positions (1.0 FTE)
The PhD candidates will become part of the ERC-funded project “Human Subject Research and Medical Ethics in Colonial Southeast Asia”, led by dr. Fenneke Sysling. The PhD positions are fully funded. The expected starting date is 1 September 2023.
Project description:
This project looks at ethical practices in the history of medicine in colonial Southeast Asia, with the Dutch East Indies, British Malaya and the American Philippines as comparatives cases. Physicians in this period (1890-1962) pursued research on all sorts of diseases, from leprosy to beriberi. Local people took part in this research as research subjects. This meant that they provided blood or urine, were examined, and received drugs of which the effects and side-effects were not yet fully known. This project analyses these practices to understand the moral world of doctors at the time, including the complicated relationship between dangerous experimentation and best treatment for the patient.
We are looking for candidates to focus on one of these 2 themes:
1. The History of Vaccine Testing, Administering and Resistance. The focus in this PhD project will be on the testing and administering of vaccines as well as on local responses to western medical practices. The candidate will look at the Dutch East Indies, British Malaya and/or the American Philippines.
2. Testing, administering and discussing new drugs in the colonies (20th century). The focus in this PhD project will be on the transfer of medical knowledge and ethical practices from Europe to Southeast Asia, in particular to the Dutch East Indies, British Malaya and the American Philippines.
We are also open for other suggestions and directions within the larger theme of the project.
Key responsibilities:
- Completion of a PhD thesis within four years;
- Participation in meetings of the project research group;
- Presentations of intermediate research results at workshops and conferences;
- Participation in the training programme of the Graduate School;
- Co-organizing workshops and conferences.
Requirements for PhD candidates:
- An RMA or MA in history or Southeast Asian studies or a related field, held by time of appointment, with an MA thesis of high quality. If the degree is not yet obtained at the time of application, a statement by the applicant’s supervisor should confirm that it will be obtained by time of appointment;
- Knowledge of Southeast Asian history and/or the history of medicine/history of science;
- Well-developed archival and research skills;
- Ability to work both independently and as part of an (international) team;
- Excellent command of English. Ability to speak or willingness to learn Dutch. Knowledge of Malay/Indonesian/Tagalog or willingness to learn it will be an asset.

One fully funded PhD position to work with Dr Henry Gouk in the School of Informatics at the University of Edinburgh, on a projected titled “Machine Learning with Context”.
The aim of this project is to develop and analyse machine learning systems that can seek out and/or leverage extra contextual information about the task(s) to be solved, thus enabling one to learn more robust models with less data. Such contextual information could include examples of good models for related tasks, natural language descriptions of the phenomena being modelled, knowledge of underlying causal mechanisms, or other meta-data associated with tasks. Applicants are welcome to propose their own topic within this broad area.
The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to collaborate with the Machine Intelligence Group and the Bayesian and Neural Systems group.
Candidate’s profile
- Experience programming in python and using associated machine learning frameworks
- Mathematically mature
- A good Bachelor’s Hons degree (2.1 or above, or international equivalent) and/or Master’s degree in a relevant subject (physics, mathematics, engineering, computer science, or related subject)
- Proficiency in English (both oral and written)
- Knowledge of statistical learning theory is highly desirable
Studentship and eligibility
The studentship covers:
- Full time PhD tuition fees for a student with a Home fee status (£4,596 per annum) or overseas fee status (£29,700 per annum)
- A tax free stipend of GBP £17,668 per year for 3.5 years.
- Additional programme costs of £1000 per year.

Conditions d'admission
Pour être considéré pour un poste de doctorat en gestion à l'ERIM, vous devez :
- détenir une maîtrise, une maîtrise ou une maîtrise en commerce ou en économie, ou dans des domaines connexes tels que la psychologie, la sociologie, l'ingénierie ou les mathématiques (selon le projet de doctorat)
- avoir d'excellents résultats dans votre premier diplôme ou vos études supérieures
- montrer un intérêt et une motivation explicites pour la recherche scientifique
- avoir un résultat au test GMAT ou GRE datant de moins de cinq ans, et une indication du score requis est de 85% (obligatoire pour tous les doctorants entrants)

Conditions d'emploi
Nos projets de doctorat sont des postes entièrement financés et salariés, ce qui signifie que les doctorants nommés sont des employés (promovendi) de l'Université Erasmus de Rotterdam (EUR). Le salaire et les avantages sont conformes à la convention collective de travail des universités néerlandaises (CAO-NU). Admission Requirements
To be considered for a PhD position in Management at ERIM, you are expected to:
- hold an MSc, MA or MPhil degree in Business or Economics, or from related fields such as Psychology, Sociology, Engineering, or Mathematics (depending on PhD project)
- have excellent results in your first degree or graduate study
- show explicit interest in and motivation for scientific research
- have a GMAT or GRE test result that is not older than five years, and an indication of the required score is 85 per cent (required for all entering PhD students)
- have TOEFL or IELTS test results. For internet-based TOEFL test, ERIM requires a total score of at least 100 and all section scores (writing, speaking, reading, and listening) should be at least 23. A minimum score of 600 is required on paper-based TOEFL test. For IELTS, the minimum overall band score is 7.5 and all section scores (writing, speaking, reading, and listening) should be at least 6.5. The language test results should not be older than two years.
In addition to these formal requirements, candidates for the programme are selected on the basis of their CVs, academic references, and interviews with the potential supervisors.
Conditions of employment
Our PhD projects are fully funded and salaried positions, meaning that appointed PhD candidates are employees (promovendi) of Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR). Salary and benefits are in accordance with the collective labour agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO-NU). Fixed, gross monthly salaries are €2,541 in the first year, €2,960 in the second year, €3,098 in the third year, and €3,247 in the fourth year. EUR has attractive employment conditions, which include a holiday allowance of 8 per cent, an end-of-year bonus of 8.3 per cent, and a generous number of vacation days.
Successful candidates are appointed on a full-time basis for a duration up to five years. The PhD position is intended to start 1 September 2023.
PhD candidates also benefit from the state-of-the-art research facilities and financial support programme (ERIM Support Programmes - ESP), which ERIM set up for a wide range of research-related activities such as conference participation, international job markets, external courses, scientific and educational literature, visits to international supervisors, and international research studies.

Financement
Une part contractuellement convenue de 50% à 75% du temps de travail total est exclusivement protégée pour la qualification scientifique et la recherche. Il n'y a pas de corset fixe sur la façon d'allouer cette part sur le programme de 3 ans pour assurer une adaptation flexible aux besoins des participants, l'avancement dans la filière académique et les aspects particuliers de la spécialisation clinique. Avec la candidature, cependant, les candidats, ainsi que les mentors et les chefs d'instituts, doivent fournir un calendrier proposé. Nous encourageons une période de démarrage à temps plein de 6 mois pour la qualification scientifique afin d'établir la base du projet de recherche indépendant.

Investigating non-communicable “Modern Diseases” is a central topic of the Faculty of Medicine of the Leipzig University.
