Postdoctoral Fellowship in Molecular Neurobiology, Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH)

Posted 2 years ago

We are seeking highly motivated postdoctoral fellows to study the pathogenic mechanisms of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases and to develop novel therapies. The laboratory of Prof. Jie Shen at Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women’s Hospital (shenlab.bwh.harvard.edu) employs mouse and Drosophila genetic approaches to elucidate functions of gene products involved in Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases in relevant neural circuits, and identify molecular pathways regulated by the disease genes. We also use cell culture, biochemical, imaging, and viral approaches to investigate molecular and cellular mechanisms. Representative recent publications include Neuron 2015, 85:967-981, Neuron 2017, 96:796-807, Genetics 2017, 206:1479-93, Mol Neurodegener 2020, 15: 72, Neuron 2020, 108:676-90.

Recent PhDs with strong expertise in mouse or fly genetics, neuroscience, or AAV delivery to the brain are encouraged to send CVs to Dr. Jie Shen at jshen@bwh.harvard.edu. Successful candidates should be dedicated scientists who enjoy working independently and collaboratively and are motivated by the desire to elucidate disease mechanisms and translate basic research into novel therapies.
