Summary of Job Duties:

The ideal candidate for this open-rank position has demonstrated productivity in entrepreneurship or in the industrial, government, non-profit, or academic sectors. They have had a lead role in one or more projects in the areas of food, health, augmented reality, or cybersecurity that utilize relevant subject matter expertise in topics such as cellular agriculture, genomics, nutrition, artificial Intelligence, internet of medical things, medical imaging, bioelectronics, wearable devices, neuroscience, regulatory science, public health, law or policy, in which they have worked in teams and delivered measurable outcomes. They have also demonstrated capabilities in establishing policies and processes that support growth in these areas and have experience in developing or implementing STEM education or workforce training programs. In addition, they will have publications in peer reviewed journals and have been invited to present at key conferences and seminars at regional and national, or international levels, commensurate with rank.
The candidate is expected to establish teams to define and meet research and entrepreneurial objectives, to secure funding through grants and contracts, to establish policies and procedures to support the R&D agenda, to disseminate knowledge and to participate in program related national and international events. The candidate is also expected to develop and lead a regional-to-global outreach and engagement effort. The candidate must have a strong commitment to working in an inclusive, team-based, mission-driven, agile and flexible environment.

Qualifications:

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D. or terminal degree in a field related to the Institute’s mission conferred by the start of employment
  • Experience supervising technical staff or mentoring graduate students
  • Evidence of productivity and an active research or entrepreneurship agenda commensurate with rank

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience with engagement with Industry, not-for-profit, governmental organizations nationally and internationally
  • Experience leading project teams
  • Knowledge of translational pathways to move food, medical technology, data science, or cybersecurity solutions to commercialization
  • Demonstrable subject matter expertise
  • Understanding of regulatory considerations for commercialization of food or medical technologies
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge dissemination through formal or informal avenues
  • Record of securing successful contract, grant, foundation, or other external funding
